The Kaleidoscope entertainment center is hosting the first corporate-hosted American Cancer Society Relay for life on Sunday, July 22nd at 2pm until Monday, July 23rd at 2pm.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight team event designed to raise awareness about cancer and raise funds to support the research, education, advocacy and patient services vital to the ACS mission of eliminating cancer. Annually, it brings together 3.5 million people to Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost to the disease, and Fight Back against a disease that takes too much.
After collecting donations leading up to the event, on Relay Day, team members take turns walking around the track during the 24-hour period, making sure that someone is on the track at all times. Each Relay For Life starts with the Survivor’s Lap. At dusk, luminaria bags are lit to create a path of hope. The Luminaria Ceremony is a time for reflection, grieving and hope. The event wraps with the Fight Back Ceremony, a time for attendees to pledge to fight back against cancer.
There are currently 26 teams registered for the event with more than 200 team members planning to participate. Come to the Kaleidoscope center this week to cheer on the participants of this event.
