Orange County Summer Reading Programs
Last week my kids ordered their first library card at Pretend City. Since my kids were so excited about getting their first library cards today, we also get registered for some summer reading programs happening around Orange County. The beauty of a child taking on their own project is that it is child-driven, which is completely self-motivating.
Orange County Public Libraries
All Orange County libraries host a summer reading program. Most summer reading programs at the library end on July 31st, so hurry to go get your kids registered today. Your children can checkout books at the library, and then after reading they can chart their progress on the provided reading chart. Children can win prizes for their summer reading accomplishments - the prizes may vary.
The OC Fair Read and Ride
Children ages 5-11 can read any two books to receive three free carnival rides at the OC Fair. Children are required to write a brief summary of approximately 25 words (children under the age of 6 may use drawings). Bring a completed form to the OC Fair Information booth located at Centennial Farm at the OC Fair. Children must be present to redeem for ride tickets. The OC Fair will be open July 13th to August 12th.
Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Imagination Destination
Barnes & Noble is encouraging children to do their summer reading by offering a free book from a selected book list after reading eight books. Children can get a summer reading journal at any Barnes & Noble store location. The program will end on September 4th.
