Could it be? Pretend City is turning 3? There is no better time to introduce your children to a world on imagination than now. They are having some fantastic events this month to encourage imaginary play! Come on down and celebrate!
Friday, August 24: 3rd Annual “When I Grow Up Day!”
Specifically for: Children of all ages; Grown-ups
Programs available on a first come, first served basis.
As a child becomes aware of their unlimited possibilities, they truly begin to believe they can take on any role! A firefighter, dentist, chef, doctor, dancer, athlete…have you asked your child what they want to be when they grow up? Join us for this special event and find out their dreams!
As children become more aware of the world around them and all that is available to them, they are able to explore, create and discover in a way that prepares them for a successful future. Join us for this very special “When I Grow Up Day” and celebrate our birthday with us as we welcome special guests from our community including police officers, firefighters, dancers, doctors, beekeepers, lifeguards, chefs and more!
(10:00am – Noon)
Occupational therapists will be on hand to screen for difficulties with handwriting, fine-motor, and sensory processing skills. These skills are essential to your child's ability to do activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, and eating. It’s important that you child is developing these skills appropriately as they impact social, emotional, and educational achievement.
Did you know that problems with hearing can lead to speech development delays? Join us for our free hearing screenings to make sure you little one is developing on track! Automatic hearing tests can see if the brain hears the quiet sounds presented by the small probe tip. Today’s screening will use (OAE) otoacoustic emission testing to make testing easy on your child. Each child will be asked to sit quietly and "listen to the birdie tones singing in your ear". Within seconds, the automatic screening can assess if your child’s auditory system is functioning properly. Don’t you just love technology?!
