Downtown Disney Date Night #CatalDTD

There is one thing that has kept my marriage strong for now almost 15 years - that has been making our marriage a priority. It is so easy to let the kids take over our lives, and we feel it constantly trying to slip away. We want to ensure that we keep our relationship strong by having regular date nights so that when the kids are grown and gone we are not looking into the eyes of strangers.

After I gave birth to my third son, the doctor told me how important it was for us to have weekly date nights, and I laughed. "It is impossible for us to have a weekly date night - both financially and for childcare" The doctor told me to just try having a date night every week. It doesn't have to be an expensive night out, or even a long night out. It could just be an hour walk on the beach together alone.

That advice ended up being the best advice I would ever get in my life.

Yes, we have the occasional week where were are down with the flu and cannot get time away alone - but we make it a priority to schedule time alone every week in our busy schedules. Since doing this, our relationship has blossomed and we are closer than we ever have been before.

It has also been good for our children to see their parents more crazy in love than the day they met.

Last week, we snuck away from the kids for the evening of drinks and tapas at Catal in Downtown Disney. This is a fantastic date night destination, because with a table on the patio - it makes for one of the most romatic dining destinations in Orange County.

We were able to sip on our cocktails while the Disneyland fireworks burst in the sky above.

I have dined at Catal Restaurant in the past, and the food has never disappointed me. On this night we just sipped on cocktails, had a little paella with ahi tacos.

Catal in Downtown Disney is the perfect place for your next date night. Give having weekly date nights a try - I guarantee you will thank me!

Disclosure: We were invited to enjoy cocktails and tapas at Catal in Downtown Disney with GigaSavvy. All of our photos, thoughts and opinions are of our own. We were not provided with any compensation for this post.
