Chicken Nugget Fun! #MealsTogether

Since the weather has gotten chilly and my kids aren't able to play outside as much, I wanted to find something fun for them to do. They love to decorate cookies but we already made so many and they really don't need the sugar. Then it occurred to me that it doesn't just have to be cookies they can decorate. Why not their dinner? It will serve as a craft and also encourage them to eat their dinner.

So I headed out to my local Sam's Club and bought a big bag of Tyson's chicken nuggets.

It was really busy there from all the holiday shoppers.

This huge bag was only $9.98. What a deal!

When we got home the boys got a little silly. My son said he had a "brain freeze".

Don't these look yummy? They are made with 100% all natural ingredients and all white meat. They even come in a resealable bag. Demos of these nuggets are taking place on 12/13 - 12/14 from 10am - 2pm at all Sam’s Clubs Nationwide). Go check it out!

We just needed to preheat the oven before we got started! While we waited we got all of our topping ready to go.

My daughter was eyeing all of the ingredients. We used ketchup, mustard, ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, A-1 sauce, frosting, sprinkles, magic shell, raisins, and chocolate chips. We even threw some candy in there for extra fun!

Ready set go! They are all hard at work!

My daughter had to be sure to tell the boys how to do it. Because she's 2 and she knows everything!

My son had a blast. He told me the one with the sour belt is a car with Christmas lights on it. The one with the chocolate chips is a polar bear foot and the chips are his claws. I love when they use their imagination. They can be so creative.

I think the best part about this evening was that we were all together. With all the sports and appointments we have during the week it's not often we have dinner as a family!

My other son used BBQ sauce, frosting, sprinkles, and a few raisins. He said he made coal for Santa to give to all the naughty kids.

And guess what? When the neighbor kids came over they wanted to get in on the fun too! This time I added chopped pineapple!

Ella said she made a polka dot sled. The sprinkles were the polka dots and the feet on the sled were made with mustard. She also made a Santa hat. We can't wait to do this again!

  1. Haha Love that you used chocolate syrup on the nuggets! Now that is my kind of snack. :)

  2. It is neat to see how excited your children were about this activity. Getting our children to eat a healthy dinner can be a chore at times. And while our parents may have taught us not to play with our food, your post shows that it isn't always a bad thing.
