Holiday Photos with The Suitcase Studio

Every year it is the same. My family gets all dressed up and heads down to the beach for our holiday pictures. The tensions are high as the pressure is on for the kids to "perform" for the photographer.

Ever year the photo looks the same. There is our family all in coordinating outfits perched on a rock with a wave crashing in the background. We are all smiling - but the reality is that it does not reflect the personality of our family in any way. They all look the same - our engagement photos, wedding photos and every Christmas photo.

Yes, we practically live at the beach 90% of the year - but Ella and I are off snorkeling while Ty is burying himself in a hole, and Andrew is off collecting sea glass. That is how my family "should" be pictured at the beach - in the way that we enjoy being there.

This year - I wanted something different. Something would reflect the personality of my family. I searched high and low before finding The Suitcase Studio.

When I told the family we were doing our holiday photos - I got the typical sigh until they learned about the photographer I had found this year. Once we got started with the photos, my family unleashed their typical personality.  The photographer, Michelle, captured my family in our natural element - not staged.

We did not do our typical photography sitting. We had a pillow fight, played with bubbles, silly string and even tossed paint on each other. We were laughing the entire day while she captured it all on her camera.

As you can see by the sneak peek photo from our session that we had so much fun! This was exactly how I wanted to capture our family this year. Head over to The Suitcase Studio Blog to see more photos from our session, and to reserve a spot for your family.

  1. This looks like so much fun! And exactly how a family photo shoot should be. I love how Michelle captures the personality of people, and especially in the kids. Great job!
