Mike and Sully are in the holiday spirit at the El Capitan Theatre. Before guests enjoy watching Monsters Inc. now in 3D, there is a lively stage show at the El Capitan. The film will be at the theatre until January 6th.
Daily show times are 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 9:45pm. Tickets are currently available at the El Capitan Theatre or online. On select days, there is also the option of enjoying a special character breakfast with Boo prior to the 10am show at the Disney's Soda Fountain & Studio Store.
The El Capitan will also be hosting a Tiny Tot Tuesday on December 25th at 10am. During the special screening of Monsters Inc. 3D, parents and young children can enjoy the movie in a tot-friendly environment. The lights will be dimmed and reduced sound levels especially for the younger children.
Last weekend, my family made a trip to Los Angeles for Monsters Inc. 3D at the El Capitan Theatre. The theatre was all decorated for the holiday season with light, garland and even a snowfall before the start of the film.
Before the show, we got to have a meet n' greet with Mike and Sully. When Ella first walked up to the characters she screamed when they moved because she thought they were just statues. Once she realized that they were the "real" Mike and Sully, she ran over and gave them a giant hug.
Monsters Inc. was one of the first Disney movies that Ella saw when she was a baby. She watched it so many times that we actually wore out the DVD. Getting a chance to now see her favorite Disney movie come to life in 3D was an exciting opportunity for her.
When it was time for the show to start, Mike and Sully took the stage to sing some of our kids favorite holiday songs. My kids were smiling from ear to ear while singing along to Jingle Bells.
After watching a movie that I have already seen hundreds of times now in 3D, it felt almost like I was watching a different movie. The characters had more personality, and I kept thinking there were more details added to the film - but it was still the same. There were things that I never noticed before like the details on the characters clothes, the fluffiness of Sully and more.
Monsters Inc 3D is now in theaters, and I highly recommend bringing the children to see it during winter break.
